In 2019, the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, honored me with an honorary doctor of science degree for my contributions to nursing, education, women’s health, and pioneering advocacy for the LGBTQ community. As I said at the time, “I am humbled and deeply grateful to be honored by the University of the Sciences. I hope that this honor inspires other LGBT youth to pursue careers in these fields and recognize that each of us in our own unique ways can make a positive contribution to the lives of others.”
